Clancy Faces Surgery

Hibs boss Pat Fenlon has confirmed defender Tim Clancy will possibly require surgery to cure his ongoing groin injury.

The summer signing from Motherwell started the season strongly but has failed to appear for the Hibees since limping off during the 4-0 victory over his former club last month.

Despite returning to training the 28 year old has failed to sufficiently recover from the problem which led to Fenlon admitting 'We've rested him on the advice of the physios. It's improved it, but it hasn't improved it enough.

'It's a deep-rooted muscle, rather than a main groin muscle so it's difficult to treat because it is so deep. That's why we've sent him away to a specialist.

'There's a few options in relation to the injury he has, so we want to make sure we take the right option.

'There's rest, there's surgery, there's an injection.

'We've rested him a little bit now and there has been an improvement, but no dramatic improvement so we need to look at other options.'

With skipper James McPake hopeful of making his comeback this weekend after a back injury, Alan Maybury looks set to continue in Clancy's absence at right back.

"Similarly, we would ask this male to get in touch with police himself and help with our investigation."
