Griffiths Keen On Hibees Stay

Griffiths Keen On Hibees Stay

28 goal striker Leigh Griffiths has hinted he'd like to extend his stay at Hibs after being named as SPL player of the year.

The on loan Wolves frontman, having spent the past two years on loan at Easter Road, is keen to see his future resolved sooner rather than later.

Having been due to hold discussions on his future with his parent club last week, the 22 year old saw the Molineux club sack manager Dean Saunders, putting talks on hold while the Midlands outfit actively seek a replacement.

Wolves have the option to extend the boyhood Hibs fan's current deal, due to expire this summer, by an extra year although it appears no decision will be made prior to the announcement of a new manager.

Speaking to Sky Sports after collecting the SPL player of the Year, his second such award after his fellow pro's named him as Young Player of the Year Griffiths said 'I don't know what's happening at Wolves and won't find out until a new manager is appointed.

'If Wolves want to take the option of another year on my contract then I'll go back down there.

'But its out of my hands. It's up to Hibs and Wolves if they can come to an agreement. If they can, then people know its just a case of me signing on the dotted line and people know I would do that.'

Griffiths netted the equaliser against Hearts on Sunday with a stunning 25 yard free kick to equal Steve Cowan's record Premier Division haul for the Hibees before being names as Sky's man of the match.

Tough Test For Hibs In Derby

Hibs make the cross city trip to Tynecastle for the second year running in the Scottish Cup fifth round and a similar performance to the one which saw them rescue a draw from being 2 behind will be required if they wish to progress to the Cup quarter finals.

Neil Lennon's side are huge underdogs going into the match despite being the current holders of the trophy and know the Jambo's are itching for revenge following their capitulation in last season's tournament.
