'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Nelson Happy With Professional Job

Hibs centre half Michael Nelson has revealed how pleased he and his team-mates were after winning Wednesday's Premiership play-off match against Hamilton and has told the Lanarkshire outfit 'We're not counting our chickens yet.'

A classy double from young striker Jason Cummings, his first in senior football, give the Easter Road side a huge advantage heading into Sunday's second leg and Nelson admitted, such was Hibs poor run of form, much of the criticism was warranted.

Prior to the game at New Douglas Park, the hosts were undefeated at home since January whilst Hibees had won just 1 in 19 in a similar timescale.

Speaking in the Scottish Sun Nelson said : "A lot was said prior to the game about how low in confidence we were and how good they were.

"How they`d not been beaten for so many games and how we had not won for so many games. But people have been writing us off for weeks, months.

"And to be fair we have not really produced or shown anything to give people cause not to write us off.

"It`s been our own doing. You don`t get bad press for that long a period when it`s not warranted.

"Some of it might have been hard for some people to take but we fully deserve what was written.

"But on Wednesday I thought we were very professional from start to finish.

"They had a go at us and pressed us and the pleasing thing is that we stood strong and did a job.

"I am delighted with getting the two goals and winning 2-0 but I think the clean sheet is just as important. It was massive.

"Has the momentum shifted? We shall see on Sunday.

"We are certainly not counting our chickens. We don`t want to get stung by any means.

"I have been in play off situations before, not at this end of the table, but at the other end.

"You just go again. You don`t look back.

"Sunday is another 90 minutes and we know that if we win that`s it. It`s job done'
