Pat Fenlon Confirmed As Shamrock Boss

Pat Fenlon Confirmed As Shamrock Boss

BR>
Pat Fenlon has returned to football, nine months after leaving Hibs, to take up the managerial reigns at Shamrock Rovers.

The Irishman, who had been linked with vacancies at both Linfield and Dundalk, was confirmed as the new boss at the Tallaght Stadium this morning replacing Trevor Croly in the hot seat.

Fenlon, who previously enjoyed success in his homeland with Shelbourne and Bohemians prior to his time at Easter Road will take former chief scout Dave Henderson with him to the Dublin club.

Fenlon said: "I am delighted to be taking over as manager of Shamrock Rovers and am very much looking forward to getting to work at the club.

"The team is in a good position, and so we`ll be looking to push on and build on that. I am familiar with the team having seen them numerous times this season and so we will get to work straight away.

"I`m looking forward to the game against Derry City on Friday night. Hopefully there will be a big crowd and we will work hard to get a result from the game and start on a positive note."

Fenlon resigned his post at Hibernian last November following a Scottish League Cup defeat to Hearts. Despite having led Hibs to successive Scottish Cup finals he found himself under pressure, in main, to freak one off results and a playing style viewed as negative by the majority of supporters.
