Yogi Appointed Raith Boss

Former Hibs player and manager John Hughes has made a return to management at the helm of Scottish Championship outfit Raith Rovers.

'Yogi' replaces Gary Locke as boss of the Kirkcaldy outfit after he was dismissed following a hopeless run of results culminating with a 1-0 home defeat to Morton in midweek.

Hughes has had some success in the past with clubs of a similar stature to the Fifers having led Falkirk to promotion and a Scottish Cup final whilst also securing a first ever national trophy when in charge of Inverness when he guided the Highlanders to Scottish Cup success back in 2015.

His time at Easter Road was a mixed bag with spells of decent football and some decent signings but his time was up when he was sacked after only 17 months in charge with Hibs sitting third bottom in the top flight after a poor end to season 2010-2011 and an equally disappointing start to the following season had the supporters calling for the Leith born gaffer to be punted.

Since departing Hibs, Hughes also had short, unsuccessful spells in charge of Livingston and Hartlepool prior to taking over at Inverness where he left during the summer after questioning the Caley boards commitment to funds available for player recruitment.

Hibs fans won't need to second guess whom he faces in his first game in charge with Rovers... that's right, they face the Hibees a week on Saturday at Starks Park.

The 52 year old is delighted to return to management and told the official Raith website: "This role appealed to me straight away not just because of my knowledge of the club itself but also because of a very enthusiastic approach from Rovers to my agent, Raymond Sparkes. I feel this is a good fit for me at this stage of my career and though the task ahead will be a challennging one in a very competitive league, I`m confident I can make a telling, positive impact at the football club before the end of this season!"
