McInnes Admits Dons Were 'Murdered'

McInnes Admits Dons Were 'Murdered'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was refreshingly honest in his after match interview with BBC Scotland having just seen his side suffer a 2-0 loss to Hibs.

It was a game dominated by the hosts with the visitors lucky to have ended the match with their full quota on the park.

Ryan Christie was late on a few occasions and Kenny McLean should have walked for a foul just prior to The Hibees second having previously been booked.

Hibs were dominant. Scott Allan resurgent and fantastic now he's plying his trade back at Easter Road. Efe Ambrose; Different class.

McInnes didn't try to sugar coat the defeat. For all the praise the Dons receive they sometimes just don't show up and as happened when Hibs visited Pittodrie in December, when you're not up for the game, you'll get battered and that's precisely what happened to The Reds this afternoon.

A near sell out crowd saw Hibs sometimes rampant, sometimes coy but always the dominant side. It was a performance to take much hope from. It's 9 points clear in fourth. Let Hearts enjoy the chase with Killie for fifth. It was a terrific team display.

The Aberdeen gaffer should be praised for not sugar coating things and told the national broadcaster 'Even though the score was 2-0, I thought we got murdered today.

'The player who took responsibility was in a green and white shirt. They won more tackles, they were brighter, had a better appetite than us.

'You can sometimes accept when you haven't played well but you still see us taking responsibility for it.

'I didn't think we did that enough, which is unusual for us. We were lucky to get away with two.'

There's no doubt The Dandies got off lightly with a 2-0 defeat. Woodman in the Dons goal kept it respectable but Neil Lennon will be delighted with this performance; He sets high standards and on this showing it'll take a very good team to take points off his side.
