Former Celtic player Stubbs agreed to join Hibs after a five year stint coaching boyhood heroes Everton where he trained both the youths and reserves.

Stubbs first match in charge of Hibs saw them defeat minnows Vale of Leithen and supporters of the Easter Road side will be hoping he can pick up the pieces at the club following the disastrous reign of Terry Butcher.

Following a disappointing start to his tenure at The Hibees where his side picked up only 11 points in the first quarter of the season, Stubbs philosophy of keeping the ball on the ground and playing a fine short passing game eventually seemed to win over the players and saw Hibs improve as the 2014/15 campaign continued.

Some shrewd moves in the transfer market saw Hibs finish second in the Championshio, ahead of Rangers but a fair distance behind Champions Hearts.

Ahead of the 2015/16 season, Stubbs added well to his squad with the signings of John McGinn, Dan Carmichael, James Keatings and Marvin Bartley.

The head coach also convinced Mark Oxley, Martin Boyle, Liam Fontaine and Fraser Fyvie to continue their careers in Leith after their contracts expired whether they be loan or permanent deals.

Stubbs also received plaudits from the support for taking a tough stance on Scott Allan after the midfielder requested a transfer following bids from his boyhood idols Rangers.

Despite failing to get Hibs promoted during the 2015/16 campaign, Stubbs will be forever immortalised in Hibernian folklore after leading the side to Scottish Cup glory with a David Gray header in stoppage time securing a 3-2 victory over Rangers and ultimately a first Cup win in some 114 years for the Hibees.
