Gray departed Hearts as a youth to sign for Manchester United such was his early promise but despite failing to make the grade at Old Trafford, carved out a decent name for himself in the English lower leagues.

He became Alan Stubbs first signing for Hibs in July 2014 and as an Edinburgh local is no stranger to the club.

Gray signed a new two year deal during the summer of 2015 after impressing in his first season and was duly named club captain following Liam Craig's release.

2015/16 saw Hibs fail to get their ultimate aim of promotion and a loss to Ross County in the Scottish League Cup Final to a last minute goal but if ever history was to be made it would be on 21/5/16 when Hibs faced Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final.

Having not won the trophy in some 114 years and the match poised at 2-2, an injury time header would make Gray not only a legend but the only club captain to lift the trophy in living memory.

It's a day which will never be forgotten.
